At Home With My Family

I am at home with my family for my Granny's funeral. It is nice to be with all my family. The service was yesterday and it was beautiful. My sisters and I pretty much put everything together. I read the Obituary, my sisters gave the eulogy and my sister's boyfriend put together the slide show DVD with music. Today we will put her ashes to rest. She lived a full life and was a wonderful woman. We will miss having her here with us dearly. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this tough time in our lives.

THURSDAY THIRTEEN: HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOLLY!!!

Reasons I love Holly
  • She is a very positive person to be around, when things get tough, she gets tougher, that is why we call her Mighty Mouse!
  • She is a loyal friend, we can let our busy lives pass us by and talk every month or every year and it is like we never stopped talking
  • She cherishes things that are sentimental-I still can't believe you have the letter from me about the game "Cookies" I don't remember when I have laughed so hard
  • She is there for her friends and family-If I was in jail, she'd bail me out and ask me what the heck I did and why she wasn't there with me
  • She makes me laugh-We can just sit around for hours and laugh, mostly about the dumb things we use to do together back in high school
  • She is a hard worker-Always seem to be a great attribute in whatever role she holds
  • She is an excellent listener-When you need to talk she is focused on what you have to say
  • She is open to new and fun ideas and things-LIKE MOVING TO HOUSTON!!!!! *crosses fingers**
  • She loves to camp-I have many fond memories of us "gals" camping. Who needs the dude, we can start our own fire
  • She is like a sister to me-She knows more about me then most of my family members do
  • She knows how to learn from her mistakes, some people simply repeat them over and over
  • She is very creative and artsy, I love her decor skills she has awesome taste
  • She will always be one of my Best Friends-I am so glad we got to spend some one on one time in Denver and the fact that she came to see me in Steamboat last year-that meant a lot to me

$100 HANDOUT

Just a little fun PERK today @ work. $100.00 Cash Handout. Our stock hit $100 for the first time in company history. It has been almost 3 years since our last cash handout. I wonder what I should do with this mad money? Suggestions? LOL

Gigi and I went to see Fools Gold on our wonderful Monday off. I didn't care for it too much. It was cute but a bit cheesy and even boring at times. Pretty predictable too. You got to see a lot of Matthew's chest *shocked?* I don't think I would rent or buy this movie.
**
Lalo rates it 2 stars
Granny is doing a little better it seems. Here she is showing off her fancy braids since her hair has grown out a little. She seems to be in good spirits and is already wondering when she can go to her home. She isn't thrilled that she has to be at Grandma's house.

Posing for her picture! Thank you RaeAnne for all your phone calls and continuted updates. I love ya sis. You are the best!

TGIF

From Lauren! She was also a ROYAL taster *notice the spoon is dirty* LOL
.
Thank goodness it is Friday and a Payday. Did I mention it is a 3 day weekend too. I am looking into going to Colorado to see Granny. She is still in the hospital. Flights look to be around $500.00 each so that hurts a little bit but Granny has lived for 9 decades and I would really like to see her before it is too late. My problem is do I pay the other $1K and take the Great Great Grandkids with me or just go for a day or two by myself. I will play with some airline sites throughout the day and see what I can come up with.
.
On a lighter note our Valentine's Day was nice. The kids and I went to dinner with Tito and her boys. 5 Kids and 2 Women. We went to Denny's. Not the nicest place but the kids enjoyed it and I didn't have to cook. We got home and the kids cleaned their room and Lauren did the few dishes that were in the sink. She is such a little doll.
.
I met with Darren's teachers yesterday and they were all really nice. They really seem to care about Darren's progress. I had to laugh when the teacher questioned what the heck happened to Darren's grades the first semester. He is doing better but needs to still work on some of his work habits and organizational skills-yes he has None thanks to me. He seems to have a good attitude about it all so lets just hope he gets into the grove of things and brings all those grades up.
I hope you all have a nice weekend and enjoy your Monday off.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

My friends at work are so sweet. I love the cards-too sweet.
Thank you Nellie. Your card cracks me up!

I need to rub my Lucky Love Frog. Maybe he belongs in my pocket and not on my desk!

I hope you all have a very Happy Valentine's Day. I had a cookie for breakfast with coffee and a breakfast taco. That is what holidays are all about; Love, Friends, Family & Food!!

Pray Today for My Great Grandmother

I found out yesterday that my great grandmother had a heart attack and is still in the hospital. She just turned 90 and it doesn't look good for her. We were told that the doctors want to stabilize her enough to send her home but that she would be under the care of Hospice. We just don't want her to be in pain so I ask that all of my friends and family say a prayer for her and lets just hope that she doesn't have to suffer. Thank you!

Second Donation Today! Commit for Life!

UPDATE: DONOR COACH DIDN'T SHOW UP!!!!
My Second Donation is this afternoon. While all of you are taking your post lunch naps I will be saving lives! Yay me! I also have lunch today with some friends from my last job. It is always fun to catch up with those gals. Unfortunately we alway end up eating at Pappa's Grill. I am not a big BBQ fan so I'll have to see what I can eat. I need to eat a good lunch since it is a donating day. No drinking for 24 hours though. LOL I am sure I can manage. Since being on WW I have turned into a fish, drinking half my body weight in water.

Weekend Update

The kids and I had a TV watching weekend. Well movies anyhow. You have to love the $1.00/ Night rentals from RedBox. You especially have to love how long people will take at these things. I guess it is the price you pay for cheap rentals. I actually rented 2 movies that the gentleman before me selected, I guess he didn't have his credit card. One was Elizabeth-The Golden Years which was okay. I love the costumes in the movie but it just didn't hold my attention. The other was Fly Boys which I haven't watched yet. The kids rented The Game Plan (cheesy but cute) and Mr. Bean's Holiday (which was horribly painful to sit through). We also somehow got captured by the AIR BUD movies on ABC, yes you read it right, I said AIR BUD. Ugh! It was a very quiet weekend, nothing exciting. The sun was out and the air was warm. Darren and I actually played some basketball for a bit on Sunday. Overall quiet but good. Never long enough. I am happy to say I have next Monday off. Thank you President's Day!

Warning: The above game should not be played after sharing a few buckets of beer with friends.

I know this now because I attempted to do so and I must say this game is best played when adult beverages are not in the system. I couldn't concentrate to save my life on which letter we were playing....which card we were playing. So it went down like this. We roll the die, start the timer and start to write our answers to each catergory. I am so into it and just really proud that I have figured out all 12 Catergories before the timer buzzes, so I toss my pencil into my folder and sit back and relax. As I look across the table I see puzzled faces, bitting of the bottom lip and some pencil tapping going on. Finally the buzzer goes off and we start with the first catergory to proudly recite our answers. The catergory is read and suddenly I feel my face turn beet red.....I have answered the catergories from List 6 (everyone else is on List 5 as they should be). For a moment I was actually mad as if someone tricked me. Then came embarassment and frustration *note I am very competitive when it comes to board games*. I laugh and throw my card down and just stare as everyone figures out what I have done. Then they suggest I read my answers out anyway just to see how I did. I agree to do that, I figure I might as well get a chuckle out of this. As we go down the list, to my surprise I still got 3 points on this round. Everyone was simply stunned. It didn't turn out as bad as it could've. We only played 6 rounds because it was pretty late. So we all tallied up our cards and guess who still won the game!
LaLo!!!!

All in all it was a fun evening. We will attempt to play Taboo next time. BBBRRRRNNNNTTT! I love that buzzer.

Note-I had misplaced my camera but found it this morning so hopefully I will have more real pictures and not just googled ones to post. Back to the 9-5 or whatever.

Baby Shower For My First Family!!

The Planning Begins
Parents To Be

As many of you know from my Wordless Wednesday Picture a few months ago, the Baby Bump is growing. It is now time to start planning for Nellie's Baby Shower. I am so excited and honored to put all this together for our "Little Prince". These two are going to be wonderful and loving parents. I just can't wait for the Little Bundle of Joy to arrive. Approximately 107 more days to go. I hope it is before May 31st because my sister would be very disappointed if I miss her wedding!
Nellie proudly shows off how big her little guy is getting! Doesn't she look fantastic.

Weekend Update!

SuperBowl XL II New York Giants!
What an awesome game. I actually stayed home this year with the kids and enjoyed the game. Wasn't super impressed with commercials though. Half time show was okay. Nothing too exciting. I am just happy it was a good and close game. My poor daughter had to cover her ears a couple times when I bursted out with excitement when Eli threw the last TD pass to Tyree! I was super excited for Stephanie who is a HUGE Giants fan. I remember the feeling of seeing my Broncos do it *Back to Back* I love this game. Can't wait until the fall again. What will I do with my Sundays? Pro Bowl anyone? ha ha

37" Mitsubishi HD Flat Screen TV

I finally got myself a little flat screen TV *just in time for the big game* Nothing too fancy considering I log in about 6 hours of TV a week if that. But it was time. I realized my little 19" TV didn't have the connections to even hook up a DVD player so I decided I needed to go for it. Of course this is after I gave the kids the 32" for their Wii and other gaming consoles. :-) They are so spoiled.

The kids and I went with GiGi on Sunday to see The Bucket List. It was a real tear jerker and of course a great movie. One minute you are laughing and the next you are wiping away tears. I def. reccommend it, especially if you are a M. Freeman or Jack fan. Other then that it was a pretty quiet and lovely weekend. Especially our weather on Saturday. Blue skies in Houston, quiet a rarity.
Hope eveyone had a good weekend.

GiGi said she uploaded pictures from Colorado trip so hopefully I'll have those soon enough.
