5 More Minutes Mom!!

After Hitting "SNOOZE"...............
The question that arose this morning from my 9 year old is..."That was 5 more minutes?". You see, Lauren's alarm goes off every morning at 5:15am. She is so awesome at getting up as soon as that alarm goes off and jumping in the shower. This morning was a different story. The poor girl had SO much homework it was very painful to watch her struggle to stay awake trying to complete it. Being the trooper she is, she got it all done and had enough time to hang out with me for a bit before going to bed at 9:00. I think she wears herself out sometimes. Anyhow, her alarm goes off this morning and for the 1st time EVER she rolled over and looked at me and asked if she can have 5 more minutes. My first thought was, Oh lord I have rubbed off on her {those who know me well, know that I am the Snooze Queen}. I thought to myself, she is always ready and waiting for that bus at least 10 to 15 minutes prior so no problem. When I go to wake the poor child up her words were, "Aww, that was already 5 minutes?". I was like, sweetie that was 10 minutes! She was so disappointed. She then got up and got in the shower. When the bus arrived (5 min. early-go figure) she didn't have her shoes on and couldn't find her trumpet and she was in a panic. Poor little thing. So my point today is: WHY DOES 5 MINUTES IN THE MORNING SEEM TO GO BY SO QUICKLY? When I press my snooze button on my cell phone it goes off every 10 minutes. I hit it at least 2 to 3 times and it seems like I got an extra 5 minutes of sleep. I just felt so bad for her. I can only hope she doesn't have so much homework this evening and she gets a good night's rest.

Weekend Update!

Margaritas and Movies was the theme of my weekend. Friday night, we drove up 45N {45 minutes!!} to visit my friend Lisa and her Hubby. Worth the drive, just pointing out how when I go see my friends it is ALWAYS a 45 minute + drive!!!
She was a most awesome hostess and we had a really good time. Us gals sipped on Margaritas and reminsed about the past. It was really fun to talk about our all our "FIRST MOMENTS" of our lives. I learned a lot about her and really enjoyed our girl time together. The GIRL, however had enough of everything by 9:00, she was out cold. The Boy was entertained by her Husband, the 2 of them watched Madagascar and played X-BOX games. Her husband is such a big kid, it is too cute.
Saturday, we didn't do too much. I was feeling worn out (like I have been feeling the past couple weeks) and I just lounged all day long. D had a birthday party to attend. His "girl" friend's birthday party. I feel like this is the beginning of the end of my little boy. He went on his first outing with his friends (and no Mama) a few weeks ago, to the movies. Now birthday parties where I don't have to attend *Heavy sighs*.
He is growing up!
He had a blast and I was a nervous wreck. He told me the party was from 4-8pm. At 8:00, I was texting him to tell him I was going to pick him up. He was a bit frustrated and was like, Maaaaahm, can't I stay a little longer. So I told him to be ready to go at 9:00 SHARP. He was happy with that. I was counting down the minutes until 9:00. lol
Sunday, I made breakfast and we went to the movies. We saw Bedtime Stories {thank you hbOo} and it was actually a pretty cute movie. Yes, I know I have 2 kids, but when it comes to these movies I usually call upon their Uncle to take them! We caught the early movie so with nothing else to do, we decided to also take in Bride Wars. This movie wasn't too bad, the title completely describes it all....your classic case of Best Friend Bridezilla's! A couple parts that made us laugh but nothing extraordinary.
Then....I got a call from my little sister that she is coming to visit with my Mom. We are just trying to narrow it down to Easter weekend or Mother's Day weekend or some time between then. I need to be in touch with their father because I think he will be in town around Easter. I am just so excited they are coming again to visit. It has been a while since I have had family come to Houston, actually the last time was when they were here for Easter 2 years ago.

~Update on the Knee~

~The Doc~
I went to the doctor on Monday as you all recall. The outcome at this point is:

I am scheduled for surgery on Thursday, February 12th. I must arrive an hour before procedure and I was told the surgery would be an hour to an hour and a half. They are going to take some of my own ligament from behind the knee to repair my ACL. With that said, I will need to stay overnight for observation and will have my first rehab session afterwards, before I am discharged…OUCH!! I am not looking forward to it. I am still not sure how much my responsibility will be for this procedure. I complained last year because I didn’t use my Insurance for ANYTHING. Not once did I go to a doctor or get any prescriptions filled. I was thinking to myself, what a waste to have paid for this Health Insurance and not have used it one time. {Now that I think of it, I did use it for my prescriptions when I had my wisdom teeth pulled}. Anyhow, I am sure glad I have it now. The average cost of an ACL repair is $11,500.00 *Yikes*

The doctor also told me that I will need to come to rehab everyday for the first 5-10 days and I will be on crutches for the first 2-3 weeks. Sounds fun, no? He told me that I should be all healed up and ready to go by next year’s ski trip. I think I may attend the trip but will play more of den mother role. LOL

I think my journey is about to become a little more painful. I will require a lot of TLC! {milking it}. I am not sure when I will be able to drive, which is going to be the hardest part (besides the pain). I know the boy and the girl will be great nurses and will take good care of me.

Follow My Blog!

It is nice to know someone out there reads about my daily doings. Please click the Follow This Blog link in the upper left hand corner. :0)

Today is my Dr.'s appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon so wish me luck!

The good news is, I haven't had to wear my brace for the past couple days and I even drove myself to work today and felt comfortable doing so and the swelling is pretty minimal. I am sure my recovery will be better than I had initially expected. I guess after I see the Knee Doc I will know more.

I had a wonderful weekend but had to watch 2 disappointing sporting events. One was the beatdown of Saturday nights UFC match and the other was of course the Cardinals loss to the Steelers. Ahh booga! They were so close, but yet so FAR away. I am just happy that it was a close and good game. I am going to be a lost soul on Sundays now. What to do with my time? Anyone have any good reads to share with me?
