*MASTERS* of Tae Kwan Do

I am so excited. I have an initial meeting with Masters Tae Kwan Do Academy this coming Thursday. The kids and I are signing up for some classes. I have been bad about going to the gym lately. Thanks to a busy schedule and the fact that when I am at the gym after work or in the evenings I am not home with the kids. I am worried about them being home for a longer period of time without me. Now we can all go and take classes at the same time. A good workout for me and a new interest for the kids, until basketball season for Darren at least. The great thing is that Darren and Lauren will be in the same "age range" class. The 9-13 year old range is at the same time my class is held. I am excited for Thursday to check it all out. If we sign up Thursday we get our uniforms for free. I am pretty sure we will do this as a family.

It is a little on the $$ side, but I am thinking of cancelling my 2 (3) gym memberships. That alone will subsidize for a 1/4 of the cost. I pay for Darren and Lauren and my membership is free. "Dad's" is free too, but we don't have that 4th. Wish they'd give me a SINGLE MOM discount. ha ha. Anyhow, I hope the kids want to do it too. I am sure they will.

Weddings Weddings Weddings! *and Babies*

Our dresses are so beautiful!

Tis the year for weddings and babies. Where do I begin? Oh lord I have no idea. Well, just last month in Colorado I got to go to my dearest friend Jill's wedding. It was so so awesome to see my first friend from my Wildcat days. She was a stunning bride. Then there was the birth of a beautiful baby girl, Reese, who I still need to go see a*s*a*p* born to my dear 1st Family. Also as of just yesterday the kids have a new baby cousin, Kalista. That makes 7 granddaughters and 2 grandsons for Rachelle and Kostas! WOW, poor Darren is so outnumbered. Congrats to Alex and Amber! (who also got married earlier this year) Now I have Heather and Jason's wedding coming up on the 21st. I am so excited and need to go find a dress for that event. Then there is my guy BFF who is finally taking the "I DO" plunge back in Colorado (September). I am trying to make it for his nuptials, not quite sure yet if I can pull that one off. Then I have Holly's wedding to the (X)brother in law in November and then it is Yolanda's wedding in February. Talk about a lot of weddings. So much love is in the air. I keep hoping some of that lovely air will blow over my way! *fingers crossed*

Also congratulations are in order for Stephanie & Tim!

TGIF! Movie and Tires....Noting unusual about that.

This morning was no different than any other morning. I woke...felt good, was on my way to work and I get into the car and pull out of the drive way only to notice that my little Cobalt is a bit wobbly. So I pull back into the drive way and what do I see. I see ONE very FLAT tire. Awe, crap. Go figure. I was so excited that I was going to be at work on time, nope. Think again. Luckily I have experience (more than any normal person) at changing tires. The guys at Discount Tire seriously know me by car as I walk in for service. I guess because my car requires high performance tires (the darn thing came with Pirelli's) they don't have much of a lifespan and I do my fair share of driving all over Houston. I have had this car for 4 years and I have to change these tires every 9 months or so. It is getting old. Anyhow, I changed that tire, dusted myself off, washed the dirt and grime off my hands and headed to work with a smile on my face. It feels good to be independent.
I am also looking forward to seeing my man "GERARD" this evening. Going to the movies with Gigi. Always fun. The kids will be with their grandparents this weekend so it will be a quiet one. I plan on catching up on my rest among other house hold duties that are screaming my name. (LAUNDRY---grrr!)

I hope everyone (Stephanie-my only reader...ha ha) enjoys their weekends. I know I will. Time to call Discount Tire. Oh, the bonus to this whole ordeal. The men at this store are very nice and very good looking. Maybe sometimes I get a flat on purpose, ha ha. Just kidding.

This week...

This week has been crazy! Thank goodness it is almost the weekend, whoop whoop! Although I have been working weekends so I am not sure how much I am really looking forward to them anymore.

Well, I sent out the evites for our Monthly Luncheon (finally).

The hardest thing sometimes is finding a good meeting spot for everyone. The idea is to try something someplace new. It usually has to be kid (significant other) friendly and not too expensive. This is our 3rd month rounding up all of our Houston friends and it has been a great experience so far.

Our 1st lunch was at Barnaby's and oh lord the food was so good. I think everyone agreed, they will eat there again.

Last month we decided on a dinner night since it was also my birthday. We went to Lupe Tortillas. After dinner my dear friend Carol thought I needed some birthday spirt in me, so we went to Aka's for some after dinner spirits. This place was so much fun and the drinks were so super cool. We then took the birthday party to Blvd 610 and danced the night away.

So this month, we are going to go to Sinh Sinh's. I have heard really good things about it so I am excited to try it out. So I hope everyone can make it, I am really enjoying these events.

I know this is a random post, but I am really trying to get back in the habit of blogging. It is like working out...once you get into it..you are good. Once you take a break, getting back into the swing of things can be tough.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Darren's 13th Birthday

"13 Years Old"

Darren turned 13 on July 28th. My first born is officially a Teen. WOW! Being his birthday was on a Tuesday, we didn’t get to do much on the actual day. I felt bad that I had to go to work. (For Lauren’s 10th birthday we were in Colorado and went to Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls, followed by a steak dinner with our family, ice cream cake and gifts!). Anyhow, I got home from work and Darren said he wanted me to make him Spaghetti with Garlic Bread. Everyone asked if I was taking him out to eat and sadly the boy enjoys Mom’s home cooking more than eating out. *Thinking I need to cook more often*. Then I took him to Dairy Queen to get him his favorite dessert. His favorite is the Cookie Dough Blizzard…that is MY boy. For those of you who know me, know I can throw down some cookie dough, minus the ice cream.

So…this weekend we were going to go to Six Flags but I am just exhausted from being on the go. I have not been home for the past 4 weekends, so I bribed my way into staying home. How, you might ask. Well, I told the boy that if we stayed home this weekend, I would vamp up his bedroom. So we went and bought him a 19” TV (which was a birthday gift), an entertainment center, a new bed (he had bunk beds), a cool rug and storage for all his goodies and clothing and other decorative items. We shopped at IKEA, which is the most awesome store ever. Oh, btw..Lauren had a slumber party to attend so D and I got to spend some good quality time together-just the 2 of us. We had a lot of fun. Darren had to keep telling me "Okay Mom, lets go, we have enough stuff for now!". I was like, hey, do you want this trash can for your room, how about this lamp, or this mirror. Ha ha. He thinks I am nuts.

Note: Darren's bed looks much better than this plain picture: Better mattress's and Denver Bronco's gear!

So we tore up the carpet (it was old and funky in his room) and ripped down some lattice that was hung over the windows. Cleaned and cleaned and then put everything together. I have to admit, it came out better than I had envisioned. I was pretty proud of myself and you can just tell that Darren loves it. His exact words were: Being a teen is pretty cool.

Completed pictures will be posted tonight. It came out really cool. I am almost jealous.
I thought this rug was very cool because Darren is really into Guitars and Music and it kind of reminded me of that. Overall it was a fun weekend and I almost forgot how fun decorating can be. Look out, I may have to do the rest of the house now. :0)
