All the hustle and bustle is now at a calm. Thank goodness. I was way too grinchy this Christmas season. It is all such a production and I have avoided the stores for the past two weeks. I did my last minute shopping for the boy and the girl on Tuesday evening and I could not believe how wiped out all the shelves were. I went into the clothing department at Target to get them something cute to wear on Christmas day and they had NOTHING. Now I am avoiding the stores for the next week or two so I don't have to deal with all the after Christmas Bargain shoppers. As crazy as that sounds, a few years ago I use to be that woman waiting in line for the doors to open to buy up all the Christmas decorations at 50-75% off. Not these days!
Christmas eve was very nice and relaxing. We just stayed at home and watched movies. Time well spent together. The kids went to bed early of course and awoke to gifts from Mom and Santa. Santa bought them really nice Bikes this year, he is SO AWESOME! They were really excited and had a lot of fun. That made my Christmas. Just seeing their little faces light up and watching them tear open gifts and give thanks and hugs.
They made me some gifts this year. Those are the best gifts. They made snowmen ornaments, a ginger bread house and an elf with a teddy bear. Very creative and much detail was given. Lauren also made me a bracelet with a little green wreath charm. They warmed my heart with their sweet gifts. *Thanks to Holly for letting them get down with the arts and crafts*
After they opened their gifts at the house I made a nice big breakfast and then they got dressed and ready to go to Grandma and Papu's house. I did a lot of driving Christmas day. I dropped them off and went back home where I enjoyed my Christmas Survival Kit consisting of Crown and Coke Zero. Tee hee, followed by a few movies. I had to limit myself to only a couple helpings because I did have to go back to Missouri City to pick up the kids. Boy did they make out over there. I had to ask them to do sort of a Show and Tell so I could see everything they got. To think they still have gifts coming in the mail from Colorado.
I am also very thankful for Russ for helping me pick up gifts from the stores and also being my assistant in wrapping all those gifts. I truly appreciate all the help. Overall, I was grinchy but it turned out to be a very nice Christmas with the Boy and the Girl.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and that you all have a Safe and Happy New Year.
