Yes, I am excited to go to the Rodeo and this year I am taking the kids. Lauren is way excited and Darren is a typical 13 (1/2) year old who is like...REALLY? I don't like country Maaahm.

One of my favorite sights, CHECK IT OUT: SNUGGIE
I was saved by the skin of my teeth (My Mom use to say that). I had a speeding ticket from WAY back in 2007 that has been in the court system the past 3 years. I had been to court 3 times for this ticket and got frustrated with sitting there all day (using up my vacation and personal time off from work) to be told, Mrs. Lobo (that is how old this is..ha ha) we need to reschedule. We have the afternoon dockets to call up and we can't get to you today. My attorney kept advising me to reschedule and fight it another day. I couldn't take it anymore. So I asked what else I could do to take care of this matter and put it behind me already. The judge informed me I could do a Defensive Driving course and have that turned in within 6 weeks and pay the small fee that goes along with it and it will be done.
He won his 7th Medal and has a couple more events to go.
My little sister and I were talking yesterday and she said she wanted to go to Utah to 'stalk' him. We use that term very loosely...cause we are not actual stalkers. I mean HELLO I have limited vacation time and 2 kids to take care of. Anyhow, when she said that it reminded me of a quote from one of my favorite movies. So the Boy (13) is allowed to wear either Black or White Polo's as part of his school uniform. When I took him shopping for clothes we only found White shirts, so I had picked out a Large and an XL because he is a growing weed. I then asked him to go try them on, to make sure they fit. Last year we had the problem of the kids just telling me they wore size X/Y/Z and a week later I am trying to figure out why I haven't seen them wear the new school clothes I just bought.
The same excuse comes up: It doesn't FIT ME NOW..or IT Shrunk. Aaargh. I am like, WHAT!! I just bought that last week. How does it NOT fit?
So back to this school year. We bought him several White Polo shirts size XL. They looked a little big so I figured they should last him until at least Christmas Break.
Well, I had come to notice this morning that Darren has been mostly wearing his Black Polo shirts. Which we had found and bought for him about a weeks ago. Mind you, he has been in school 3.5 weeks. So I asked, Gee Darren, you haven't been wearing your White shirts lately! To my surprise his response was, "Yeah, cause they don't fit me anymore". WTH? How is it that they fit 2-3 weeks ago, but not today. His response,"No, really, they shrunk". I can only shake my head with regret. So when I get home, he will try on the white shirts and then the black shirts and I will tell you if they fit or not. I know we have washed them, I truly just think he prefers the black shirts. *Sighs*
I have also been taking the kids to school every morning and I enjoy doing so. It just makes me feel more connected with them. The fact that I can see them off and tell them to have a good day warms my heart. Anyhow, Darren has asked to walk home after school and I have agreed to let him. He walks with a few other friends and I know he has to stand on his own 2 feet at the age of 13 (in 8th grade). So everyday, as a friendly reminder I tell him (after he says, Bye Mom, have a good day "I LOVE YOU") to "Be Careful Walking Home". So this morning, he glances at me and said, "What? Do you think I am going to Jump off a bridge or something?". I was like a deer in headlights. I was a little hurt by his comment. I thought to myself, I am just reminding him that he walks along a busy road and you never know where danger is lurking. I guess he is just coming into being that teen aged boy. *Sighs*

I am so excited. I have an initial meeting with Masters Tae Kwan Do Academy this coming Thursday. The kids and I are signing up for some classes. I have been bad about going to the gym lately. Thanks to a busy schedule and the fact that when I am at the gym after work or in the evenings I am not home with the kids. I am worried about them being home for a longer period of time without me. Now we can all go and take classes at the same time. A good workout for me and a new interest for the kids, until basketball season for Darren at least. The great thing is that Darren and Lauren will be in the same "age range" class. The 9-13 year old range is at the same time my class is held. I am excited for Thursday to check it all out. If we sign up Thursday we get our uniforms for free. I am pretty sure we will do this as a family.

Darren turned 13 on July 28th. My first born is officially a Teen. WOW! Being his birthday was on a Tuesday, we didn’t get to do much on the actual day. I felt bad that I had to go to work. (For Lauren’s 10th birthday we were in Colorado and went to Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls, followed by a steak dinner with our family, ice cream cake and gifts!). Anyhow, I got home from work and Darren said he wanted me to make him Spaghetti with Garlic Bread. Everyone asked if I was taking him out to eat and sadly the boy enjoys Mom’s home cooking more than eating out. *Thinking I need to cook more often*. Then I took him to Dairy Queen to get him his favorite dessert. His favorite is the Cookie Dough Blizzard…that is MY boy. For those of you who know me, know I can throw down some cookie dough, minus the ice cream.
So…this weekend we were going to go to Six Flags but I am just exhausted from being on the go. I have not been home for the past 4 weekends, so I bribed my way into staying home. How, you might ask. Well, I told the boy that if we stayed home this weekend, I would vamp up his bedroom. So we went and bought him a 19” TV (which was a birthday gift), an entertainment center, a new bed (he had bunk beds), a cool rug and storage for all his goodies and clothing and other decorative items. We shopped at IKEA, which is the most awesome store ever. Oh, btw..Lauren had a slumber party to attend so D and I got to spend some good quality time together-just the 2 of us. We had a lot of fun. Darren had to keep telling me "Okay Mom, lets go, we have enough stuff for now!". I was like, hey, do you want this trash can for your room, how about this lamp, or this mirror. Ha ha. He thinks I am nuts.
Note: Darren's bed looks much better than this plain picture: Better mattress's and Denver Bronco's gear!
Completed pictures will be posted tonight. It came out really cool. I am almost jealous.Posted by Lovely Lalo-Cha 2 comments
