Thursday Thirteen! Things That Have Gone Wrong Today Or Just Strange

  1. It started with me waking up a FEW minutes late today.
  2. I took my shower, and my shampoo and conditioner are missing? (Lauren took it to her bathroom)

  3. I only had Shampoo, no Conditioner, so that makes for a bad hair day.

  4. My razor needs to be thrown out...SO BAD, I mean really bad. OUCH!

  5. The kids get a ride to school today and leave without saying goodbye, no hug or kiss..wth?

  6. They rushed out the door and forgot their lunch money! Ugh.

  7. I can't find half of my clothes..so I wore some jeans that after today, will go in the trash as soon as I get home. I don't even know why I own skinny jeans in my size...or why they sell them. Women with big hips should not have tapered jeans. Enough said.

  8. My sweater is all stretched out, but I wanted to be comfortable-not frumpy.

  9. I sat in traffic all morning, left the house 20 minutes early to get to work 10 minutes late!

  10. I went to pick up my friend from the hospital today and my ride back to work lost us on the way to her apartment.

  11. I get back to the office late afternoon, I still hadn't eaten and decided to walk over to a pizza place to grab a quick slice and they are closed.. =(

  12. I got back to work and realized that "someone" (me-duh) needs to fill my friend's prescription, she just had surgery and needs her meds and can't drive. So now I need to leave work..and go take care of this for her..the poor thing.

  13. The finance company for my car keeps calling and I have no idea why. They have no reason to call me??

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

Thursday Thirteen: My Ski Adventures in Aspen/Snowmass

1. Flying in/out of Aspen is nearly impossible, especially when flying UNITED {THEY SUCK}

2. Ski goers are very SNOBBY! 3. There is NO nightlife in Snowmass after 9:00 (even on a Friday evening and the XGames are in town...WTH?{Last Call} 4. Ski School is a waste of time if you are NOT over 60 and you HAVE skied in the past 40 years

5. A Hotdog and Cider will set you back $23.00 on the mountain

6. It snowed about 2 feet in 3 days which makes for great ski POWDER
7. Ski’s get caught up in POWDER and you get a ride down the mountain because you tore your ACL, another guy in your group does the same thing 20 minutes later
{Poor Bill never saw it coming either!}
8. $600.00 is the cost of XRAYS and a knee brace @ the clinic on the mountain
9. Drink heavily to forget the pain
10. One bedroom loft is $2300.00 for 4 nights, SERIOUSLY???
11. Bus ride to downtown Aspen is free and you even get a drunken college student’s slideshow of very inappropriate anatomy, imagine the movie STEPBROTHER, this was worse.

12. Eat cheese and crackers for lunch because your other “ski partners” are busy skiing while you are popping vicatin and icing your knee.
*

13. Return flight cancelled due to weather, pay another $150.00 shuttle to Denver, 4.5 hour drive to get to airport, rebook and recharged for luggage fee, eat dinner and go to gate to find out that flight has been cancelled due to mechanical problems. Rebooked to a later flight on another airline carrier. I was scheduled to be home at 4:00pm and ended landing in Houston at 11:30pm.

Let’s just say, Aspen/Snowmass is very pretty, but I’ll stick to Steamboat Springs!

Thursday Thirteen: The Boy & The Girl

I was in desperate need of a new camera and I finally bought one. YAY! So now I can post pictures of my little man and lady! This is just a brief TT of what these two precious kids have been up too.

13. The pictures below are from when we went to go see Madagascar 2! It was opening day and man it was packed. We showed up for the 1:00 movie but ended up getting tickets for the 3:40 showing...2 showings later. The kids really enjoyed this movie. See how well they 'waited' in line. They still play so good together and just love each other so much.
They were pretending that Lauren had 4 arms and they were waving at people and just being silly. They crack me up.
12. They spent the weekend with their Uncle Kostas and "Auntie" Holly last weekend while I was in Denver. They so enjoy spending time with their family (and cousin Angel). Uncle Kostas now has 4 dogs (thanks to Holly's addition of 3) so the kids were in Doggy Heaven.

11. Lauren has been working on her first Science Fair Project with two other students in her class..they were going to build a volcano but decided to do a project on Making A Boiled Egg Float. She spent 2 days at Lauren E.'s house and I got to meet Lauren's Mom and oddly enough, her Mom's name is Laura too. Don't run into that every day. They had a lot of fun putting it together and spending time together outside of the classroom. I am very proud of their efforts. Lauren turned their project in today. I will post pictures at a later date.

10. Darren just finished testing TAKS and he feels pretty good about his efforts. I am sure he did fine. Unlike his mother he is a test taker...I always second guessed my answers and changed the correct answer to something else. Always felt like that first answer was TOO easy so it must have been wrong. Thank goodness he is confident with what he knows.

9. Lauren wrote a story for her Writing class and her story was chosen (2 were picked out of the whole school) to be hung in the library for display. She was able to meet a real author and have her picture taken with her. She was very excited about this and I am very proud of her. I have asked for a copy of the story so I can publish it for all to see at a later date.

8. While Lauren was working on her Science Project Darren and I had some one on one time. It was so nice to just hang out with him and talk. Now that he is in 7th grade I feel the need to be inside that little mind of his a little bit and I am very lucky that seems to enjoy sharing stories about his friends, teachers and other influences around him. We grabbed dinner and sat at the table and talked, after we ate we decided to play Jenga. He was such a stinker...shadow pulling after me. I won one game and he won two. Then we just started to play with the blocks and build stuff. I'll have to post those pictures tomorrow. Good quality Mother/Son time! I LOVE IT!

7. Over the weekend I am going to take Lauren to get contacts. She is a very responsible child and I think she will enjoy wearing them. She, like most kids, isn't a big fan of wearing glasses but she does and she has taken excellent care of them. I am so excited to see her again without glasses. The main problem is she has such a tiny nose and her glasses always slip down her face and she spends most of her day adjusting them.

6. Darren and Lauren have also started making their wish lists. I have been on them to do this because we have a lot of OUT OF TOWN family that likes to shop early and get their packages in the mail. I will get those lists out to you all over the weekend. *sighs* :-)

5. The kids and I have bought the last two seasons of Friends and we are now on Season 10. I love sitting down on the weekends watching this show with them. I think they like the show almost more than I do. Soon we will have to find another TV series to soak up.

4. We are looking forward to the holidays and we will be spending Thanksgiving with Grandma Rachelle and the gang. The boy and the girl always look forward to seeing all their cousins and eating grandma's cooking. Plus, I get to look forward to spending the holiday with Holly, who has moved here from Denver to be with my (ex) Brother In Law. They are so cute together. With her being here, it will feel like a part of me is home. It has probably been 15 years since we've spend Thanksgiving together.

3. We are going to the GREEK FESTIVAL Saturday with Sara and others. I am looking forward to this. Their grandfather is Greek so he will be proud that they will be taking in some Greek Culture and Food.

2. They are now Bus Riders again and have done a great job at getting up at 5:20 AM!!! Or whenever I quit hitting the snooze button to wake them up. They are great kids and just so easy for me. I am so THANKFUL to have such beautiful babies.

1. We are looking to go home to Colorado for Christmas BUT right now it looks like tickets to fly home are going to be around $420/per person.

Why is it that I just flew to Denver last week and tickets were only $188?!?!

That price in not exactly in my Single Mommy Budget! If not, we will spend the Holiday at home together and that could be fun for the 3 of us. More bonding and making memories of our little family.

THURSDAY THIRTEEN: Happy Birthday Nellie!

She has me addicted to this website, so I had to do it! I think BLUE SHORT hair works for her!

MY FIRST FAMILY!!

Thirteen Reasons I love Nellie!
  1. She is so damn funny and witty. The reason I have given her the nickname Capt'n Witty. Half the reason I blog is too laugh at her comments!
  2. She is beautiful inside and out and I am so glad we have become such good friends!
  3. She is my "1st Family"...such a long story how this came about. Well, just look at the picture above. She claims I look better taking pictures with her husband because of my natural glow. I think she is crazy but it cracks me up.
  4. She is a new Mommy to the most PERFECT boy. Even though he arrived early..he is still F'in Brilliant. It runs in her blood.
  5. We can just sit around at her house and eat Chinese food, drink some wine and just talk and talk and talk and then laugh laugh and laugh. I miss our Thursday nights, we must get those going again.
  6. She is very quick to put out fires...comes in handy when you are ON FIRE! *wink*
  7. She is my 'unofficial' life coach..what am I talking about..she is OFFICIAL. She always has the best advice and I know she keeps my best interest in mind when it comes to dating..friends..jobs...my kids...and last minute trips to Padre Island!
  8. She use to let me get her coffee and rub her feet and take excellent care of her when I was HER "ASSISTANT" {kidding, LMAO}
  9. She is simply stunning pregnant. Even hours after delivery. I am so proud of her for becoming the best Mommy (next to me) and having a totsite of her own...that I can not believe she actually still updates. Good job girl!
  10. She adores my children and she listens to all my random stories about our daily doings, sometimes I hear her talking to others about "the boy" and "the girl", she is so proud of them and me. That means a lot to me. Those lil ones are my world.
  11. She is probably the funniest friend{co-worker} you could ever have. We have had so many good times. I've had to coach her on some office etiquette but I think she is good now. WOW~I miss working with you lady!
  12. She has a kick ass sense of style and a love for shoes that has been passed down to me. Thanks girl, I am going broke now. SO glad your feet didn't expand with pregnancy.
  13. OVERALL, she is AWESOME and seriously one of my best friends and I have mad love for her and her family.

I look forward to watching Lil B grow up and making more fun memories together!

Thursday Thirteen: Random Pictures from Jamaica

Pablo's friend and our driver Dennis aka Bowlo and I @ Rick's Cafe in Negril
Roadside Shrimp! We spent a lot of time in the car so we were happy there were places like this!
Black River before our River Tour! My hair was like this the whole trip! LOL Wind blown and post beach look! ~hot~! I got the boy and the girl some neat gifts from this guy..he personalized it and all.
This is Nikki aka Color, he is in the Lobster business. All I can say is WOW!
Bowlo opted out of the River Tour!
Color & I on Whitehouse Beach~These guys loved Lalo & Gigi. They were great hosts! Notice the item in his hand. You couldn't get away from this stuff. LOL Too funny. It is in the picture above too! These are probably the safest pictures to post.
I introduced Color to Sudoku. He was so excited and eager to figure this out.
Color & I in Black River..so green and pretty here.
This is Dennis our River Tour Guy...we had so much fun. This was the craziest things I've done yet. We literally made our way up this river and did some diving. I think Gigi saw her life flash before her eyes when one of the currents grabbed her and started to take her downstream. A rock stopped her *OUCH* poor Gigi. She had a few scrapes and bruises but came out smiling!
We are happy we did the non-commercialized river tour...about to grab a Red Stripe!
Jerk Chicken & Red Stripe is what is was all about in Jamaica, well that and the 420.
Hooray to no open container laws in Jamaica!
More to come...I am still waiting on some pictures of us snorkeling and from the actual River. I know I am probably over doing it!
Don't forget to check out Jamaica Part One (<---click there)pictures that were taken in Montego Bay! It is the post below the one with thes kids. :-)
