Happy Birthday Gina!

I can't say it enough. You are truly an amazing friend and person. I still swear we were separated at birth or at least by birth mother! Sometimes when we talk about things...I can't believe how much we think alike.

Our famous saying: "GET OUT OF MY HEAD" could not be more true.

So here is a toast to you Gigi. Thank you for being my friend, my travel buddy, my confidant, my wedding date, my 'Stros buddy, and most of all, thank you for just being you!

Happy Birthday Hot Mama!

*HOORAY GIGI!*

Thursday Thirteen! Things That Have Gone Wrong Today Or Just Strange

  1. It started with me waking up a FEW minutes late today.
  2. I took my shower, and my shampoo and conditioner are missing? (Lauren took it to her bathroom)

  3. I only had Shampoo, no Conditioner, so that makes for a bad hair day.

  4. My razor needs to be thrown out...SO BAD, I mean really bad. OUCH!

  5. The kids get a ride to school today and leave without saying goodbye, no hug or kiss..wth?

  6. They rushed out the door and forgot their lunch money! Ugh.

  7. I can't find half of my clothes..so I wore some jeans that after today, will go in the trash as soon as I get home. I don't even know why I own skinny jeans in my size...or why they sell them. Women with big hips should not have tapered jeans. Enough said.

  8. My sweater is all stretched out, but I wanted to be comfortable-not frumpy.

  9. I sat in traffic all morning, left the house 20 minutes early to get to work 10 minutes late!

  10. I went to pick up my friend from the hospital today and my ride back to work lost us on the way to her apartment.

  11. I get back to the office late afternoon, I still hadn't eaten and decided to walk over to a pizza place to grab a quick slice and they are closed.. =(

  12. I got back to work and realized that "someone" (me-duh) needs to fill my friend's prescription, she just had surgery and needs her meds and can't drive. So now I need to leave work..and go take care of this for her..the poor thing.

  13. The finance company for my car keeps calling and I have no idea why. They have no reason to call me??

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

Teen Diaries

So the Boy (13) is allowed to wear either Black or White Polo's as part of his school uniform. When I took him shopping for clothes we only found White shirts, so I had picked out a Large and an XL because he is a growing weed. I then asked him to go try them on, to make sure they fit. Last year we had the problem of the kids just telling me they wore size X/Y/Z and a week later I am trying to figure out why I haven't seen them wear the new school clothes I just bought.

The same excuse comes up: It doesn't FIT ME NOW..or IT Shrunk. Aaargh. I am like, WHAT!! I just bought that last week. How does it NOT fit?

So back to this school year. We bought him several White Polo shirts size XL. They looked a little big so I figured they should last him until at least Christmas Break. Well, I had come to notice this morning that Darren has been mostly wearing his Black Polo shirts. Which we had found and bought for him about a weeks ago. Mind you, he has been in school 3.5 weeks. So I asked, Gee Darren, you haven't been wearing your White shirts lately! To my surprise his response was, "Yeah, cause they don't fit me anymore". WTH? How is it that they fit 2-3 weeks ago, but not today. His response,"No, really, they shrunk". I can only shake my head with regret. So when I get home, he will try on the white shirts and then the black shirts and I will tell you if they fit or not. I know we have washed them, I truly just think he prefers the black shirts. *Sighs*

I have also been taking the kids to school every morning and I enjoy doing so. It just makes me feel more connected with them. The fact that I can see them off and tell them to have a good day warms my heart. Anyhow, Darren has asked to walk home after school and I have agreed to let him. He walks with a few other friends and I know he has to stand on his own 2 feet at the age of 13 (in 8th grade). So everyday, as a friendly reminder I tell him (after he says, Bye Mom, have a good day "I LOVE YOU") to "Be Careful Walking Home". So this morning, he glances at me and said, "What? Do you think I am going to Jump off a bridge or something?". I was like a deer in headlights. I was a little hurt by his comment. I thought to myself, I am just reminding him that he walks along a busy road and you never know where danger is lurking. I guess he is just coming into being that teen aged boy. *Sighs*

Lastly, Darren told me that some of his classrooms are cold at the school and some of the kids wear light jackets. So I went and bought a jacket I felt was reasonable for his needs. It looked like something he would wear, it wasn't too expensive and it wasn't too big etc. I bring it home and HE LOVES IT! His exact words are "Cool Mom, Thank You". He puts it on and wears it the rest of the day.

I am dropping him off at school and he is like..."Mom!" "slow down". I am thinking, What? Why?
I slow down, and get to the circle drop off and let him out. He looks at me and says, "Oh man, that other kid has my jacket". So...since someone else has his jacket....He will no longer wear it! I want to strangle the boy. I can't help but think to myself, why can't the other kid stop wearing HIS jacket so Darren can wear his. Like a WHO WORE IT BETTER thing.
*Teenagers-and so it begins*

Countdown to Holidays

Stephanie reminded me today that we are close enough to the holidays to start our Countdown, and the kids spent a good part of the weekend looking for Halloween Costumes. So I thought, instead of digging on the floor of Target on October 30th for their Trick or Treating get ups, I would actually plan ahead for a change.

Lauren wants to be a Gangsta Girl (no thanks to FaceBook's Mafia Wars I am sure). She has found this costume at Target for the not so expensive price of $38.00. I will purchase this one next week.
Darren was online and came across this costume, which I find pretty funny (I know it isn't PC) but the boy loves guitars and "little people". Okay, so the first part is true. Anyhow, he found it online for the ripe price of $72.00. I thought to myself that is a lot for a costume, so I told him we'd look around.

Then I came across a website called Mardi Gras Outlet and they had it for $42.00. I looked on a few other websites (Amazon to other Costume shops) and most had this one priced at $56+, so I went a head and ordered it for him. I can't wait to see the look on his face. He will be very excited.
I realized that I must plan ahead considering between the 2 costumes, I will be spending about $80-$90 for one night of free candy? Hmm.
I am just proud of me for planning ahead. Next will be going to Big Lots for some Fall/Halloween decorations.

My Goal & For Yolanda's Wedding! Ha ha! *My 220th POST!*

I told Yolanda that I will be thinner and tanner with longer hair by the time her wedding rolls around, so she had her friend come up with this picture to get an idea how Lalo would pull this off. SOooo..we plan to do a side by side of me in my dress and this picture to see how successful I am! YIKES The wedding is February 6, 2010.
